An answer to an anonymous email about my trip

I received an email last night from an anonymous email address. It will not accept a reply from my email so I thought I would post it here for the writer and everyone else who may be curious.

I received an email asking who was paying for my trip to LA. I can understand people may be concerned that this is a misuse of rescue funds. Our funds are open for anyone to view if they wish which is required to be a registered society. As for my trip to LA it is being funded by myself. There are no funds being used from rescue as a part of this trip. This is a trip that I would like to make and have choosen to spend my time while in LA at the shelter working with the dogs that are there. The flight and rental car are covered by myself and I will be staying with a BRLA volunteer.

Toy fund donation update

We have received a $20 donation to start off our Toy Campaign for the BRLA shelter. $20 is a great start and will buy a couple of toys but lets keep going!
Every penny counts so please donated a dollar, $2.00, $5.00 or more!
Thank you in advance!

Donations For BRLA

Hello Everyone!

As I said in my last post I will be visiting the BRLA shelter at the end of the month. The shelter is always in need of long lasting toys, Kongs, Nylabones etc. I would love to take some down to the shelter as gifts for the waiting boxers. If anyone would be interested in donating towards purchasing these items please visit our donation page and send a donation via Paypal. Please email me to let me know the donation is for BRLA toys. I have the opportunity to purchase these at cost for the trip. Everyone who donates will have their name written in a card which will be given to the shelter along with the toys.

Donations will be accepted till Jan. 23rd so that I can have time to purchase the items before I leave. The total donations and toys will be posted.

Thank you in advance!

Lots of play and work time with the shelter dogs and two BRLA babies will be coming back to Canada with me to their waiting families! Please check back for photos and a story of my trip in early Feb.

The Apprentice is going to the DOGS!

Donald Trump and Cast of 'The Celebrity Apprentice' to Give Dogs New Leashes on LifeNASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- While Donald Trump's Apprentice generally leaves someone out in the cold by episode's end, the message of the show airing January 10, 2008, is very different. Trump and his teams of business-savvy celebrities will show their softer sides whenthey partner with PEDIGREE(R) Food for Dogs in an effort to help raise awareness for the four million homeless dogs nationwide and ultimately find them loving homes.

"I'm pleased to be able to partner with PEDIGREE(R) on 'The Apprentice' and help bring attention to the important issue of homeless dogs," said Donald Trump. "I firmly believe that everyone deserves a second chance and these dogs are no exception. This is an exciting partnership for us on the show and one that I hope will help do some good for all of the dogs in shelters and breed rescues nationwide."
The episode is an extension of the annual PEDIGREE(R) Adoption Drive, the cause-related campaign the brand created four years ago as a means torally dog lovers to come to the aid of the more than four million dogs in shelters and breed rescues across the country, half of whom never make it out.
"At PEDIGREE(R) we believe every dog deserves a loving home, so we're proud to partner with 'The Celebrity Apprentice' to further shine a spotlight on the dog adoption crisis," said Rob Leibowitz, Vice President of Marketing Mars Petcare US. "For four years, we've infused this campaign with emotion, because as dog lovers, this cause is very near and dear to our hearts. Our hope is that after this episode airs, the importance of dog adoption will be a cause that hits home for dog lovers everywhere."
To help bring the issue to life and spur consumer action, the two teams going head-to-head are charged with creating a community awareness campaign which appropriately conveys the message of The PEDIGREE(R) Adoption Drive. In order to get properly prepped, contestants make a visit to a local Manhattan animal shelter as well as review previous communications developed in support of the Adoption program.
And if avoiding the axe isn't enough incentive to motivate the teams to give the project their all, maybe a shot at further fame will: the winning community service announcement will be aired during the broadcast of the 132nd annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show when it airs on February 11and 12 on The USA Network.
The brand-sponsored episode is a pre-cursor to the official launch of The PEDIGREE(R) Adoption Drive, which will take place on February 7. The roster of this year's activities include print and broadcast advertising; a dog adoption focused store in Times Square during February where visitorscan meet adoptable dogs and purchase Dogs Rule gear that supports the cause; and a full-scale fundraising effort through the sale of merchandise and product to benefit the newly-created PEDIGREE(R) Adoption Drive Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization assisting select shelters and breed rescues nationwide.
To view both PSAs, find out which team wins and see who has to pack their bags, viewers will need to tune into The PEDIGREE(R) Adoption Drive episode of "The Celebrity Apprentice" when it airs at 9 PM EST / 8 PM CST on Thursday, January 10 on NBC.

LIVER BROWNIE RECEIPE

We'd like to share a recipe (from adopters and volunteers Dana and Brenda). Here's our well researched and tried and true recipe for liver cookie treats:

1 1/2 lbs beef liver - chop/mince then blenderize
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
1- 2 eggs
1 - 2 tsp garlic powder

Mix well in a bowl and spread evenly over a good sized cookie sheet. Bake for 20 mins @350 and allow to cool for a few minutes. Cut into squares - big or small and fill into freezer bags. They freeze well but should be defrosted before treating happy dogs. No preservatives and very healthy. For our dogs, Canidae (Buckerfields or Shar Kare) is a great dog food - made with all human comsumable ingredients. We add beef broth and the occasional broken up ;iver cookie for an extra treat.

Pixie WBBR Alumni Update

Hello!

Today is Sunday the 23rd of December and Pixie has been with us for only 6 weeks, but she's fit in seamlessly! She is 15 weeks old and growing like a little weed. We had her spayed on Friday so she's currently sporting a conehead and some pretty pink bandages where her dew claws were. She was cranky on the day of the surgery but after a good sleep and lots of attention she's roaring around like normal, conehead be damned! I am loving buying her new outfits, my favorite so far is her down coat with the fur lined collar. She also is sporting a couple sherpa vests and some fabulous high top pink boots. Ben and Max love her and she gives as good as she gets with the boys. She is the queen of the household! I had bought a whole bunch of Pixie sized toys for her, but she won't play with them, she wants to play with the big boys toys, so off she goes with a toy that's twice her size! It's quite funny to watch her drag it across the floor, she's determined to get into her bed so she can have a good chew! She loves to cuddle, you pop her on the bed and she burrows under the covers and is instantly asleep. House training is great, she learned how to use the doggie door in just a few days and now we have no problems with her at all. Peter has started taking her to work with him, and after a few minutes of ribbing by the guys on the construction site Pixie quickly wormed her way into all of their hearts. So much so that after Peter had left her at home with me for a few days that the big burly construction boys were asking when Pixie would be coming back to work! We hope you enjoy the pictures of Pixie with her new brothers! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Heather

Maggie WBBR Alumni Update

Hi Chantelle,

I don't know if you got my last e-mail because it bounced back a couple of times. I just wanted to give you an update on Maggie and send you her first Santa picture! She's doing great so far. We switched her to the same diet as Frosty. She got her second set of shots and will be getting the third set in two weeks. The vet said her health is great, just a little too skinny. So we upped her food to almost a cup a day in two meals. She follows her big sis around and will do whatever Frosty is doing: sniffing, playing, sleeping. She is still shy with other dogs. We try to socialize her with other dogs but she just hides behind Kele and I. Once she gets older, we will put her in daycare with Frosty twice a week so that she will get some puppy time.
