Every day a boxer goes in to a loving home is a wonderful day for a rescuer. Today though may just be one of the best days I've had so far. For the first time since I started volunteering for rescue I saw a dog not go to a new home but go home to their family. Roxy came in to rescue 2 weeks ago due to behavioural issues that her owner felt she was not best suited to deal with. She felt Roxy would do better with another family. Roxy's family did not want to surrender her but wanted what was best for her. Today Roxy took a little piece of my heart with her when I took her home. Roxy didn't go to a new home and that's what makes this success so special, Roxy went back to her family! There will be a bit of a learning curve for everyone but with training and commitment Roxy is home!
Congrats Louise and Aiden, today you have taken a big step to bring Roxy home and work her through her anxieties. As a rescuer this is what it is all about! Rescue isn't all about rehoming the dogs, the biggest success is if we can work with the owners and help them keep their dogs with them.
RESCUE A BOXER works diligently to find forever homes in Vancouver, BC AREA, for Boxer dogs in need of a second start. Since 2004 we have rescued and placed hundreds of amazing Boxer dogs.
