Updated Laila Post - ADOPTION PENDING

ADOPTION PENDING

****

Updated Laila posting

Laila
Female Spayed
1 year
Location: Vancouver Lower Mainland
Kids: No
Dogs: Possibly with slow introduction
Cats: NO
Hi all !! It’s Laila here. The foster lady wanted you to know what’s going on in my life, so let’s cut to the chase. I love my life. I love getting up in the morning, I love my breakfast and my morning walk. I love my good girl treats and my naps, I love my afternoon walks and dinner ! Then, at the end of the day, I love bedtime. Foster lady says she has never seen a dog that loves bedtime like I do !!! Life has been pretty good.
In the last 3 months, I have learned that the strange people I see on my walks are not that scary. I don’t bark at them anymore, and foster lady says I no longer get ‘bristley’. That means no hackles, and this is good ! It means I can spend more time sniffing instead of worrying . Did I mention I love sniffing ??? Well, I do !
I went for a car ride, and that was lots of fun !! We visited the vet to get weighed ( I’ve gained 5 lbs !!) , and we went to the pet store where they store all the good stuff ! I met 3 new people and I really liked them . They pet me and gave me good girl treats. Foster lady says I was a rock star!
I still want to meet all the dogs I see, but we avoid them , or watch them from a safe distance . ‘Look, no touch’ is what the foster lady says. Works for me !! The foster lady lady says I have a high prey drive, and I think that has something to do with how excited I get when I see squirrels !!! Or birds, or cats !!!. Apparently, this is what’s called a ‘work in progress’.
So anyway, that’s what going on with me. Foster lady says I am the happiest boxer ever, and that I am a pretty smart cookie. Did I mention that I love cookies ???? I do !!!!
I know this last 3 months has just been a short chapter in my life , and there is still so much more to learn with my furever family. I know you’re out there !!! To meet me is to love me
Love,
Laila xoxox

Laila - Available for Adoption - ADOPTION PENDING**

UPDATE:  ADOPTION PENDING

We are learning more about Laila and what she needs. She is sweet, she is cute and yes she is young. What she needs is someone to allow her the opportunity to learn at her own pace and allow for her to have good experiences.

This little girl will not be adopted to a home with young children. She has fear to young kids. She is unsure of new people and takes time to get to know them. She is tiny and timid and lacks confidence. Out on walks she is alert and gets nervous seeing other dogs and people out on walks. However she is easily redirected. She needs to know she is good girl and needs to know when she does well.
Laila gets overwhelmed easily. She is a super special girl looking for the right home. This home needs to be patient. Take things slow. Literally slow like molasses. Rushing her into situations just sets her back and creates more stress for her and knocks down her confidence. She will shut down. She needs to be allowed to come to you on her terms. You will need to build her trust. You will need to crate train. She likes her crate. It's her comfort area.
Laila needs a fully fenced yard. She will need someone to be with her outside and not be left unattended. She is fearful so if she gets spooked she will run and never look back. Saying this Laila isn't a dog park dog. She isn't going to be walked off-leash. She isn't going to like to wrestle or rough play. She needs someone who can give her time, patience and someone who will strictly follow the 2 week shut down.
For your reward of patience Laila will pay you with lots of love and grow into an amazing dog and a wonderful companion. She just needs someone to help show her how to be a dog.
We will only be considering local adoptions at this time due to the limited volunteer abilities.
Training will be provided by Dogsmart in Vancouver. If you adopt Laila you need to committed to the training program at Dogsmart.

URGENT - Foster home needed

Updated:

Bella has been adopted into an amazing home.

================

URGENT!!

FOSTER HOME NEEDED!
Can you foster Bella?
She’s not doing well in the shelter, please help we need to get her out.
Meet Bella!
Bella says "My name means beautiful in Italian and I was named perfectly because I am a BEE-YOO-TI-FUL lady!"

Bella came to Animal Services after her owner, sadly, passed away. She is a large girl who loves her food, the kennel staff, and pets and snuggles. Bella would do well in a home with large breed experience that can manage her weight. We are working on her weight so that she can lose a few pounds, Bella will also need an experienced home with NO other pets, and one that can manage her reactivity to dogs and other animals. This dear girl would love to be a walking partner to her very special adult human and a couch potato in your home. Do you have the experience to take care of this sweet girl? We would love to hear from you.

Please send your expression of interest via the link on this site and we will forward you our application.

Tyson Available for Adoption - UPDATED

UPDATE

TYSON has been adopted. =====================

Tyson is available for adoption!

We have updated this posting since learning about Tyson.

Meet Tyson - 9 year old male

Since being in our rescue, Tyson is experiencing so many "firsts". His first car ride, first time on stairs, first time in an elevator, playing with toys and walking on leash.

Tyson has tons of energy!  And he definitely has come out of his shell.  Don't tell Tyson he is a senior!  He is a young dog at heart looking for a second chance at life.  And let me tell you this boy will live every moment to the fullest!

He is great in the house and loves chilling and laying by the fire.

Tyson wasn't walked before so he is learning to be comfortable with all the new things in the world.

He has not had much exposure to other dogs and gets overly excited when he sees them.   Since being in RAB our volunteers have worked with him walking around other dogs. He is learning fast and starting to gain confidence in the outside world.  Tyson can be reactive to people and dogs on walks.  He is looking for a leader to trust to show him the good in the world.  He needs someone willing to commit fully to helping him gain his balance and continue to grow.

The best home for Tyson:

Have adopted an adult Boxer before

Have older kids if any in the home

Have time to engage and train

No cats, other dogs at this time is unknown.

Rosie - ADOPTED

 ROSIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Meet Rosie, this smart, silly and sassy 4 year old lady is looking for her forever home. She’s lived on acreage for most of her life so her ideal home would have lots of space for her to run and play. She loves kids and wants nothing more than to spend lots of time with her people. Cats and livestock are ok. Rosie would prefer to be an only dog as she likes all the attention directed towards her.

We are Opening our Adoption Applications up again!

RAB is going to be welcoming 2 new dogs to our rescue this week.

The dogs won't be available for adoption yet, until we can learn more about them in order to set up their adoption for full success. If you are interested we will be opening up our site this week to accept applications.

Please keep in mind that the timeframe will depend solely on the dog.  And we will be making the placement based on the best fit for the dogs.

Little Lady is looking for a new home - Lucia ADOPTED

LUCIA - ADOPTED

Meet Lucia. She is 6 months. An Old English Bulldogge. She is a sweet young girl who is also smart and fun. Unfortunately due to life changes this little lady is finding herself looking for a new home. It is heart breaking and devastating for this family that they have re-home her but they have reached out to RAB for help.

Sweet Lucy was born with Bilateral stifle thickening and palpable effusion. Aka Bilateral cruciate tear. This is in both of her hind legs. The vet recommends TPLO surgery on both of her legs once the vet is confident that her growth palettes have matured. He estimates that this surgery can be done when she is 10 months old.

Doing one TPLO is an extensive surgery let alone two at the same time. Recovery and rehabilitation post surgery would be about 3 months. They expect her to have a good prognosis to have normal athletic function once fully recovered.

We are looking for a special home for this sweet girl to land.

If you can help please let us know. Pop us an email at: info.rescueaboxer@gmail.com

About Jackson_Milo

NAME: Jackson/Milo
AGE: Jackson 6 YEARS OLD; Milo 3 YEARS OLD
SEX: Neutered Male
COLOR: Jackson Brindle; Milo Fawn
DOGS: Possibly
KIDS: Yes
CATS: NO

Meet Jackson and Milo. They are a bonded pair. You see they aren't birth brothers but they have been together for a long time and rely on one another. These two are your typical Boxer boys. Full of energy and full of love and full of Boxer wiggles for EVERYONE! Jackson is Milo's big brother. And he looks up to him as a little brother should. They are a couple of hams and have so much fun together. Unfortunately due to a change in family dynamics this dynamic duo is finding themselves looking for a new home. They are great with kids (who understand dog boundaries) and prefer a house with no cats.

If you are interested in adopting Jackson and Milo please fill out an adoption application on our website at www.rescueaboxer.com A volunteer will touch base soon.
