Boxer Meetup & Bottle Drive

Please join us for a Boxer Meetup and Bottle Drive to raise funds for two Boxers in our medical care.  All breeds are welcome!!  You don’t even need a dog, just coming out to support is great too!

This will be a fun afternoon of Boxers socializing and helping to fundraise money for much needed medical expenses, for Boxers in need. We ask that you please bring your empty bottles to donate. Volunteers will work throughout the day to take them off your hands and to the bank!!

We also have volunteers who are willing to do pickups in certain communities beforehand. If you need this service, please email us at info.wbbr@gmail.com with your address. PLEASE DO MAKE IT WORTH OUR WHILE for the pickup! Get the message out to your friends, families, neighbours & everyone you know. Leave in your drive way and we will do our best for early morning pickups! Invite as many people as you like. Lots of Boxer Loving to be had!!

Date: Sat. May 11th
Time: 12pm - 4pm
Where: Derby Reach Regional Park, Langley, BC

Volunteers will bring wire crates for 'time outs' or if your boxer would like to watch but not participate in the madness! Please bring your own wire crate if you have one available.

If your dog is reactive and you would like to keep him/her on a leash. Bring a scarf, bandana or something visible for your dog to wear. The color of the day for "reactive dogs" is RED or ORANGE. Everyone will be able to see this and will be respectful of your dog's space.

Do you know of someone that works or owns a Pub or Bar and are willing to donate their Friday Night Empties to some puppies in need?

If you would like to donate to help please visit our site: www.wbbr.ca

Look forward to seeing you there!!

More Boxers Home!

We had another fabulous weekend visiting our friends in the LA sunshine.  Its always a whirlwind and such a busy few days.  It's hard work but all so worth it when you see the end result.

WBBR is grateful to have such a long time friendship with BRLA.  We work closely together on the one goal.  That one goal is to find great homes for Boxers in need.

This weekend was no exception.  6 dogs were flown from LA to Vancouver.

Welcome to Canada:

-Keely
- Zoey
- Foxie
- Harley
- Princess
- Trinket

There truly is nothing more rewarding than seeing these dogs go to wonderful and loving homes.

Thank you to all our adopters who were patiently working with us all weekend and for being so flexible and accomodating.  Rescuing is one of the greatest gifts that you can do for a dog.  We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

And of course we thank Boxer Rescue LA for what they do.  Rescue is often very difficult and can be at times very heart breaking.  But it truly is one of the most rewarding!

Owen's Christmas Tree Fund

As a lot of you may know we have the sweetest boxer boy that has officially become a "Ward of WBBR"!!! Medically he will be our responsibility for the rest of his life, because he has a very rare but serious condition. Owen has been diagnosed with an Auto Immune Mediated Arthritis that is known as "Lupus". To get to this diagnosis Owen had to have many tests and see several specialists. First, a trip to the Cardiologist was in order, to get a proper grasp on his heart problems. Then, he had to see an Internal Medicine Specialist, to be evaluated with his many symptoms. And eventually Owen had to have Joint Taps performed by a specialist. From this information they were able to determine the exact severity of his problems. Owen will need to be on medication for the rest of his life with constant vet care. His vet bills to date are very extensive. We are asking that you please give to Owen's Christmas Fund. Donate a Christmas Tree Ornament for $25 each. Then email us a picture of your Boxer to info.wbbr@gmail.com We will then include the picture of your Boxer to our virtual Boxer Christmas Tree. Plus you will get a very special surprise!!

*HINT* Face forward head shots work the best for pics!!

Thank you for thinking of Owen this Christmas season. Hoping you and your family have a very wonderful Christmas, with lots of well wishes for a happy new year!

Merry Christmas from Missy!!

Hi Jennifer.

Missy and Vicki wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and all the very best in the New Year.

Enclosed is a picture with Missy and her Vet, Jeff Bowra, at the Aldergrove Animal Hospital. He dresses up each year and donates his Saturday and all the proceeds from the photos to Charity. Pretty good hey.
Missy update: Her leg is at full strength now and she runs every day. We found a new park with lots of trails and lots of dogs. Missy has made
A lot of new friends and is no longer the reactive dog she used to be. She gets along well with everyone and has huge confidence now.
She is very smart and picks up commands quickly, wow she learns fast. She is full of love and always wants to please me. I feel the same
Way about her LOL
This is a most awesome animal and friend that you gave us. The very best Christmas present of all. She LOVES the snow. She has a green coat
Which keeps her warm and it is also waterproof.
Love ya
Vicki

Happy Holidays from Holly!

Hi Jennifer and Marilyn,

Another year has passed and Holly has bloomed into a lovely girl. She's about 53 lbs and is as adorable as the day we got her. Just wanted to pass along these couple of photos of her so you can see how lovely she is. If I recall correctly, she will be two years on Dec. 15th.

All the best of the season to you and your families!

Sharon (& Mauricio & Holly)
